Many travelers who come to Ft. Lauderdale, especially those who come for business, are most interested in the hotels within the airport's immediate vicinity. Many do not have time for long commutes to suburban accommodations--they are most interested in the convenience, which an airport hotel can provide. Those who plan conventions and conferences also frequently favor a hotel with easy airport access.

Fortunately, Ft. Lauderdale has a number of airport hotels from which to choose. For instance, the Holiday Inn Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport prides itself on its comfort, style, and convenience. The hotel is also located near the Tri-Rail station and I-95, making it easy to travel through Dade and Broward Counties. The Holiday Inn is distinguished by its expansive lobby, which mirrors the loveliness of the South Florida landscape. The hotel is also close to Hollywood Beach, known for its world-renowned Broadwalk. While at the Holiday Inn, you can relax at Cafe Aquatica on the Terrace or in the Rendezvous Reef Lounge or you may want to gaze at the waterfall at the hotel's tropical pool.

Another option to consider is the Hyatt Regency Pier 66. The complex is located on 22 acres complete with tropical gardens. It's located along the Intracoastal Waterway across from Port Everglades, which is the world's largest five-star cruise port. Both the airport and the business district are located three miles from the hotel. You can also walk to the Broward County Convention Center, or venture to the beach, which is three blocks away. To think, it all began as swampland. In 1950, Phillips Petroleum bought 22 acres of swamp, intending to use it for a gas station for watercraft. A yacht club and marina followed. In 1959, the Pier Sixty-Six motel with its 100 rooms opened for business. The hotel tower made its appearance in 1967 and has become a favorite destination of out-of-town travelers.

Ft. Lauderdale hotels are definitely built with air travelers in mind. A number of hotels have been built with easy access to the airport, saving flyers time and, in some cases, money. The quality of the area's airport hotels is second to none, a good thing to keep in mind when planning your next business excursion.
